Because of our expertise serving the communities in the Greater Philadelphia region with water, fire, mold and biohazard clean up, PuroClean Emergency Recovery Services is often sought out by families in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to help people diagnosed with hoarding disorder.
Hoarding disorder goes beyond merely collecting physical objects. A person receives the psychiatric diagnosis of hoarding disorder when they are unable to comprehend the danger of the situation and change their behavior accordingly. These people are unable to see the fire hazards or health hazards their hoarding creates. And, they experience extreme anxiety at the thought of being parted from the objects they have collected.
Our work helping children and families of hoarders began in 2011 when we were called out to a Philadelphia home for a fire damage restoration project. Since that time, we have provided compassionate help for many people throughout the Delaware Valley, handling the crisis of cleanup that is too overwhelming for the person who hoards and their families.
In the Spring of 2014, our work with one person, Seymour, and his family was broadcast on the TLC network show Hoarders: Buried Alive. For Seymour, the health hazards of hoarding were complicated by a roach infestation that was so bad there was no place in his home he could go that didn't have them. We were able to help him and his family with the crisis of cleanup.
And, in May, 2014 our work was featured in Restoration & Remediation Magazine.
In Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey we provide Emergency Water Damage extraction and mitigation, fire and smoke damage restoration, mold removal, and biohazard clean up services
