We woke up one morning to find a puddle of water on the floor in front of our refrigerator. The water line for the icemaker had leaked and flooded the floor. We cleaned up the water and hoped that everything was great. However, a few days later the hardwood floor in front of the refrigerator began to cup. The cupping ran for about 8 feet. We started calling companies to work on the water damage on a Saturday. We talked to several companies, but John Sheffield, the owner of Puroclean, went out of his way to handle our problem. He came out on that Saturday and immediately put drying mats out to reduce the water in the wood which was registering in some places up to 35% (normal is around 15%.) We had about 50 square feet of wet flooring. At that point we did not know if we would claim the damage on our insurance or not. He also went in the crawl space and started the drying from underneath too. He took out the insulation and put up fans.

John and his friendly crew came out again on Monday to see if the drying was working. Progress had been made, but the floor was still very wet. Since I wanted to do everything possible to save the floor and I was not sure if I was going to file an insurance claim or not, John kept working on the drying process by putting up a floor to ceiling tent with fans and blowers to improve the drying process. He also tented under the house. He came out everyday to track the improvement of the floor and to move the equipment as needed. He even lifted the kitchen island to make sure the floor under the island would dry. Each day we saw improvement and the tent was often reduced in size as areas of the floor dried. By the next Monday, all the floor was completely dry to 16% or less of moisture. This means that mold cannot grow and the wood floor is the original flooring. John saved our floors!

We did eventually decide to file an insurance claim. John explained the process to us and helped us to understand what we needed to do. When the insurance adjuster came out to see the damage, John met her and explained the situation. John always acted like he worked for us and not the insurance company. I felt that I had an experienced professional working for me in dealing with the insurance company. After the adjuster left, John put up new insulation in the crawl space and made sure the kitchen was in better condition than when he first arrived. I am very grateful for the assistance that John and his team gave me in his quick response, his repeated visits to make sure progress was being made, his meticulousness, his saving of our floors, and his handling of the insurance company. I would highly recommend John and Puroclean for any property damage.
