PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT!!!

BE SURE TO WEAR PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT SUCH AS N-95 MASK (AT MINIMUM).  IF MOLD IS VISIBLE, THEN GET A HALF MASK OR FULL MASK WITH BETTER FILTRATION PROTECTION.  ALSO SUIT UP!  WEAR SOME TYPE OF TYVEK SUIT TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM BACTERIA AND OTHER FORMS OF DANGEROUS MATERIALS.  WEAR WATER RESISTANT GLOVES.  MEDICAL GLOVES WILL NEED TO BE DOUBLED UP.  IF YOU CHOOSE TO WEAR N-95 MASK OR HALF MASK THEN YOU WILL ALSO NEED SAFETY GLASSES!  AGAIN, PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF!

1.  If the flood water came into your structure, make sure all materials that have been affected are removed.

2.  If drywall is visibly wet, then cut 1 foot above where the water line was.  Remove all baseboards and shoe molding around the affected area first.

3.  If speacialty flooring, such as hardwood, linoleum, vinyl, carpet and pad has been affected it should be REMOVED!  Non-porous flooring material such as ceramic tile, marble, etc... and such may be saved if they are not on top of a moisture barrier were water is trapped between the layers or other flooring materials.  Porous materials can have water seep through them.  (Hardwood, carpet, pad, etc...) The affected non-porous flooring and other materials (drywall, etc...) should be removed and the structure must be returned to the studs and sub flooring so that the drying process can start.

4.  If insulation on exterior walls has been affected, then it should be removed.  Again, cut 1 foot above the water line....or sometimes more if it wicked up into the insulation further.

5.  You will also need to treat all affected areas with some type of germicide.  Double treatment is necessary!  Wear N-95 mask or better when applying!  Bleach & Water mixture is a bit abrasive and can be harmful.  Also you do not want to reintroduce water back to the materials.  Use EPA approved germicides and guidelines.  The anti microbial that we use has been approved by EPA and is a much safer efficient product.  Our company uses Sporicidin and QD-64 in our services to you.

6.  Do not use air movers/fans without dehumidifiers! This will only cause the spread of microbial growth to progress quicker!  Dehumidification is a MUST to pull the moisture out of the air.  Call us to use the proper equipment and applications.

7.  Use air movers/fans every 14 linear feet of the affected area.  Again, call us to use the proper equipment and applications.

8.  DO NOT REBUILD UNTIL THE ENTIRE STRUCTURE AND MATERIALS ARE COMPLETELY DRY!  This could cause damage down the road and could result in more extensive costs to you.

9.  If you have a crawl space that has been affected, then it also will need to be treated with anti microbial treatment and have dehumidification and air movers/fans to dry it completely.  This has to be done before putting vapor barrier back down!

We provide all of these services.  However, if your home is still sitting unattended, you will need to be proactive and do some of the tear out until someone is able to reach you.  Please contact us immediately if you are unable to do any of these services.  We  will get to you quicker in some situations.

We use only the latest technology that will result in savings for you.  Our Dehumidifiers will pull 132 pints of water from the air per day.  This results in faster drying time!  Saving you MONEY!
