Before a severe winter storm strikes, take some time to take the following preparations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Add the following items in your<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.puroclean.com\/blog\/how-make-emergency-kit\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>emergency kit<\/strong><\/a>: sand for traction, snow shovels, salt or sand to melt ice, heating fuel (such as dry wood if you have a fireplace) and extra clothing and blankets. Also include a NOAA Weather Radio to listen to blizzard alerts.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Establish a<\/strong> <strong>family communications plan<\/strong> to know what to do during a winter storm in case you are separated: how to contact each other, how to get together and where to meet.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Don&rsquo;t travel if a blizzard is likely to occur<\/strong>. Vent fuel-burning equipment to the outside and have fire extinguishers close by.
