The competition for the 2023 Franchise of the Year award was fierce, with over 500 PuroClean franchises in North America alone. Despite this, Nelson and Sujey Rivera, owners of PuroClean of Chester, have brought the award home for New Jersey through their sheer commitment, effort, and dedication!
Winning Franchise of the Year
It wasn’t easy, however. The Franchise of the Year award evaluates numerous metrics, such as sales growth, market share, revenue, profitability, and more. Undeterred, the Riveras surpassed all expectations, taking the lead and embodying everything PuroClean stands for.
Speaking on the Riveras, Steve White, President and Chief Operating Officer of PuroClean, had this to say:
“As both a PuroClean franchise owner and an active firefighter, Nelson Rivera has worked tirelessly to put out both literal and figurative fires, putting his life on the line for others while expecting nothing in return. He has seen and helped people through their worst days, whether water, storm, mold, or fire damage. A Family’s Journey
Nelson Rivera lives and breathes New Jersey. A resident of Essex County and Newark since 1999, he later relocated with his family to Orange County, where he began serving as a firefighter in 2009, soon becoming the deputy fire chief.
Always eager for more, though, Nelson soon found work off-duty as a technician for PuroClean of Livingston. It was there that Nelson discovered his profound passion for business. By 2017, Nelson and Sujey, his wife and co-owner, had moved once more, this time closer to Livingston to pursue their dreams of entrepreneurship.
Eagerly, the duo soon opened their first PuroClean franchise, PuroClean of Morristown. From there, they quickly expanded into Bloomfield, Livingston, and Chester. With over four locations in New Jersey and a recent partnership in Oregon with two other franchisees, the Riveras have built an impressive array of businesses that cover all of Essex County and the surrounding areas. Now, more than ever, the Riveras serve the New Jersey community with pride, passion, and perseverance.
Immensely honored and proud of how far they’ve come, Sujey had this to say:
“We’re so honored. All I have to say is that, honestly, in the almost five years we’ve been here, it’s been such an incredible experience. Nelson is such a hardworking person, and he’s so deserving,” Sujey Rivera said. “I want to give so many thanks to the corporate team. What we continue to do is never enough; we always want to try to be better. I appreciate all the support of everyone (who) from the beginning, has always just shown so much love and support.
