Lightning Only Needed to Strike Once to Require PuroClean’s Prowess

Fire Restoration

Did you know that lightning can cause the air to heat five times hotter than the surface of the sun? So, it’s not hard to imagine what kind of damage lightning can generate. In fact, more than $2 billion dollars was paid out by insurance companies in 2020 to cover damages caused by lightning, according to the Insurance Information Institute. All it takes is one quick flash of light to fan the flames.

Homeowner Suffers Fire Loss Generated by Lightning

In early August, a retired homeowner in Covington experienced a fire stemming from a direct lightning strike. She initially hired another company to complete the damage restoration. The company made an already stressful situation worse for the homeowner with their lack of communication and service. It got to the point where she had to let them go. Her insurance company recommended PuroClean take over and finish the job.

As soon as we got the call, our team immediately jumped in, ready to go. Due to the amount of time that had passed and the previous company’s sub-par service, we had a lot of catching up to do. The homeowner had been staying in a nearby hotel with her pets since the incident, so it was even more important to work quickly to get them all back home.

As much as we are ready for everything to be back to its original condition, this job is still a work in progress. The restoration work itself was extensive as the lightning caused damage to both the inside and the outside of the home. Our team is working hard around the clock, and most importantly, communicating and staying transparent with the homeowner. Beyond the actual restoration, we are also working closely with the insurance agency to get an acceptable financial settlement for all parties.
