During this National Superhero Day, we express our profound gratitude for the extraordinary efforts of our local heroes. At PuroClean of The Big Island, we deeply appreciate the unwavering dedication of our local superhero, Michael Sailer, who selflessly serves our community. His relentless commitment and genuine compassion make a tangible difference in the lives of our residents, embodying the true spirit of heroism. Together, his collective bravery and service amplifies our community’s strength and resilience. Officer Sailer has been a member of the Hawai’i Police Department for six years and has been part of several high-profile arrests in our community. He has 3 consecutive years of perfect attendance.
In his fourth year on the force, Officer Sailer earned the Officer of the Year award for his lifesaving efforts during an incident involving the kidnapping and torture of a victim. Using his investigative skills, it appeared the assailants intended to kill the victim and cover up the incident.
Mike is also a champion jiu-jitsu fighter, he began training in the art in 2014 before setting roots on the Big Island in 2015. The move marked a significant lifestyle change for himself and his wife, Bonny. They fell in love with the land and wanted to see how this island’s environment would influence their personal life and perhaps even their approach to starting a family. Sailer was a community hero long before he became a police officer. He awoke in May of 2017 to find his wife seizing, her strep throat and weeks of migraines turned out to be a rare and life-threatening brain infection. Without hesitation, he simultaneously called 911 and transported Bonny from Mt. View to an ambulance in Keaau. His immediate efforts are the reason she is alive today. Because of his protective nature, they are thriving in paradise alongside their two young sons, Mikey and Ryan.
