PuroClean of The Big Island had a busy Veterans Day weekend starting on Thursday evening at the Yukio Okutsu Veterans State Home with the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce. The administrators of the only nursing facility in Hawaii that is specifically designed to serve the special needs of Veterans hosted a reception where we met Barbara Dawson-Perry and got a special tour of the facilities. At 84 years old, Barbara is the current Resident Council President at the Home whose father, brother, and husband were all veterans. She is a notable member of the veterans community and a very impressive figure.

Two days later, PuroClean of The Big Island participated in the 17th annual Hawaii Island Veterans Day Parade in downtown Hilo. In maintaining with our Adopt A Sports Team program athletes from the Air Riflery and Paddling Teams, parents, and teachers from St. Joseph School were invited to march with us and represent their school.

Before the parade, Hawai’i County Mayor Mitch Roth joined us for fellowship and a great breakfast/brunch spread put on by the team.

Our marchers exhibited this year’s theme, “Celebrate Service,” by showing their support and gratitude for our veterans. They also shared aloha with local law enforcement and spectators at the event by sharing candy along the parade route.

PuroClean of The Big Island is proud to be an American business and is thankful for the bravery and service of our veterans. They are very much honored and very much appreciated. The parade route ended by walking under an oversized US flag and many veterans seated in the stands specially created for them.
