Sometimes when you hire a contractor, they simply do not meet expectations — but it could actually be worse. Unfortunately, this happened to a homeowner in Fulshear when she hired an electrician who inadvertently caused her wet floors by accidentally cutting into a water pipe while working in her home. She ended up calling us to help dry out and restore her property, but only after another contractor dropped the ball first.
No More Wet Floors
After the homeowner was made aware of the leak, she called a plumber to stop the water from flowing, which they eventually did and told her that they remedied the situation. Unfortunately, that was not the reality because the homeowner noticed her cabinets and wood floorings becoming more “squishy.” So, six days after the plumber gave her the “all clear,” she called us to help handle the damage she was told she wouldn’t have to deal with.
We found water still in the lower part of the wall behind the cabinet and under the wood flooring when we got there. When the plumber completed their work, they neglected to address this water that had already seeped its way into the wood. Unfortunately, in order to complete this restoration, we had to cut the drywall out, and remove the bottom cabinet and the wood floors, which were all ruined. This was due to the length of time the water sat there.
The most challenging aspect of this job was the cabinet, which had been specially made for the homeowner and now needed to be carefully removed. Thankfully, the cabinet maker was willing to come out and uninstall it so it could be meticulously removed without any chance of damaging it.
Our team completed the dry-out over just four days. The homeowner was incredibly grateful for the speed and effectiveness of the work we did. After being let down by the contractors she had worked with previously, it was very reassuring to her that we were true professionals. She was also very impressed with our punctuality because our offices were over an hour away from her home, but we still were always on time, despite traffic. That’s just the PuroClean Way!
