JULIE HOLTON: When mold grows indoors, exposure can cause all sorts of health problems and property damage. Steve Scott of PuroClean is certified in mold removal. Steve let’s hope we don’t ever have to call you for this, but what are some ways we can prevent mold.

STEVE SCOTT: Well, the best way to prevent mold from growing in your home is to keep the water from coming in. You can’t have mold without water. Outside your home, slope the ground away from the foundation to keep water away. Repair any leaks in the walls, roof, or gutters quickly. Keep your indoor humidity at 30 to 50 percent by using a dehumidifier. Make sure your appliances are ventilated properly and have your HVAC system inspected annually. If you do have a flood, clean and dry the wet areas within 72 hours. If you don’t want to tackle this yourself, you can always give us a call.

JULIE HOLTON: It’s best to call in a professional to make sure it’s done right.
