Q: Why is getting a free estimate important?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A: Having the access to a free estimate can cut down on filing unnecessary claims that both protect your homeowners and your agency!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: How does this protect the homeowner?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A: Filing a homeowners claim obviously can result in a rate increase for the insured. Filing an UNNEEDED claim is even worse, as this can show an extensive and\/or negative claims history. They might run the risk of being dropped by the insurer and could even prevent them from securing coverage in the future or limit coverage choices if they plan to switch carriers. Getting an upfront free estimate can also determine if filing a claim is justified based on the deductible amount.  For example, if your insured has a higher deductible, sometimes a simple water dry-out can be less than that deductible and it would benefit them to pay it out of pocket*.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: Ok, Smarty Pants… how does it protect the agency?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A: Your customers getting a free estimate can and will cut back on filing unnecessary claims protecting your agency claims ratio. When a company is paying out more money in insurance claims than it is taking in with premiums, this shows an underwriting loss. An underwriting loss can result in tightening of underwriting standards and abruptly raising premiums causing you, the agent, to potentially lose business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
