NORTH CHATHAM, NY (September 5, 2008) – After helping countless families in upstate New York regain their homes and sense of security after a property disaster, local entrepreneur Tom Light, owner of PuroClean Certified Restoration, received the recognition he deserves. Light, whose PuroClean team shows up any time of day or night following property emergencies including water damage, fire, smoke, mold, and biohazard events, recently received the 2008 “Franchisee of the Year” award from PuroClean for the services his team provides to insurance companies and property owners throughout twenty-one central New York counties.

PuroClean, known as the nation’s “Paramedics of Property Damage,” shows up on the scene of property disasters to take the necessary steps to bring the situation under control, preventing it from becoming worse, and finally providing restoration services to help put the property back to pre-loss condition. The Fort Lauderdale–based company chose Light for the prestigious award out of 216 franchise owners around the country, presenting him with the honor at its annual national convention, held August 20-22 in Denver, CO. The award recognized Light for his success, continued growth and contributions to the entire franchise system.

“When we are called to the scene of property disasters caused by fires, floods and other natural and man-made disasters, we’re dealing with more than just damaged property,” said Light. “While our services focus on restoring property, our mission focuses on offering comfort and peace of mind, as we strive to restore property and take the burden from our customers. I feel a personal sense of satisfaction from helping people regain their lost sense of security during a very stressful time in their lives.”

The Franchisee of the Year is determined by evaluating each of the 216 Franchisees in the PuroClean network on eight different criteria. These criteria cover compliance with the Agreement; good revenue in the business with strong growth and profitability; leadership among his PuroClean peers and participation and leadership in the company’s programs.

Light has operated his PuroClean franchise with his wife Debbie, his brother Bud, and their staff of 24 employees for 13 years.

“Tom Light is an extremely hardworking, committed person who exemplifies the commitment to servicing insurance agents and their clients,” said Keith Gerson, President and COO of PuroSystems, Inc., the franchisor and national support center for PuroClean Franchisees. “He sets the highest standard for new Franchisees, and is very deserving of this award. He understands the importance of attention to detail, top-notch client service and of utilizing the marketing tools available to consistently bring in new business within local insurance companies.”
