Water Damage Restoration Seattle Lynwood & Western Washington

About Water Damage Types

Water is the #1 Damage Assignment for a Mitigation Company.

  • There is an abundance of water loss sources in and around the home.
    • Sinks; Washing Machines; Dishwashers; Toilets; Hot Water Heaters; Spigots; Refrigerator Ice Makers…
    • Ground Water, Broken Pipes, Ice Dams, Roof Leaks…

Three Categories of Water; Each with its own Protocol for Mitigation

  • Cat 1 – Fresh Water (can drink it)
  • Cat 2 – Gray Water (not drinkable, may produce odors)
  • Cat 3 – Black Water (pathogens, bacteria, can make person ill)

Four Classes of Water; Each with its own Protocol for Drying

  • Class 1 – Part of a Room Affected
  • Class 2 – All of a Room; Multiple Rooms Affected
  • Class 3 – Multiple Levels Affected (e.g. loss occurs on 2nd floor and also affects 1st)
  • Class 4 – Specialty Equipment Needed (Injection; Floor Mats; ETAS Heating)

Demolition

Not all water losses require demolition

The removal of materials (drywall, flooring, cabinets, etc.) is based on the category of loss (1, 2, 3) and the class of loss (1, 2, 3, 4) demolition may be required. This is for a variety of reasons

  • Is there mold?

  • Is insulation affected?

  • Is the material delaminating?

  • Are bacteria and pathogens present?

  • Is there already damage to the structure?

Measurement

PuroClean Northwest uses a variety of measurement devices to understand the scope of work. There is no one-size-fits-all mitigation process. We have tools that allow us to “see behind the walls” so we can be as efficient as possible doing the actual mitigation.

Closing Comments

Our team trains relentlessly on this most common of all mitigation assignments. We use modern tools. We have attended a bevy of formal IICRC industry standards training sessions, including WRT (water restoration technician), ASD (applied structural drying), and CDS (commercial drying systems).

We understand the tools, systems, measurement techniques, exploratory practices, and disinfecting and deodorizing chemistries to return your home to pre-loss conditions. We wrote the book on mitigation, see www.TheMitigationHandbook.com
