Getting you back in your home is a long process after a major fire. It can take months. Here is the typical timeline from our experience:<\/p>\n

  • It is normal and customary for the insured to pay to the rebuild contractor half of the amount, and with that they buy materials and get started. Then the long process of rebuild begins \u2013 permits, scheduling, overcoming weather conditions, and working with the insured on paint colors, carpet preferences, flooring, cabinets, and more.\u00a0<\/li>\n
  • Fire occurs, insured contacts insurance, adjuster assigned, mitigation company selected and scope determined. Mitigation company does initial work. Adjuster helps insured to find temporary living arrangements.\n

    • Content contractors selected, contents are removed from the home.\n

      • Timeline \u2013 1 to 3 weeks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Inventories are done, photos taken, report written, and everything is muscled out by the movers.\u00a0<\/li>\n
      • Mitigation work resumes and then is completed. Typically involves a combination of demolition and cleaning.\u00a0\n

          • Why so long? Your adjuster will write what is called a rebuild estimate. The contractor then negotiates with the adjuster to arrive at a scope and a price. This alone can takes many, many weeks. Once they agree on scope and price, the adjuster sends to the insured a check.<\/li>\n

              3. Protein<\/strong> \u2013 Stovetop flareup, fire extinguishers used, very odorous. We Degrease, Disinfect, and Deodorize.<\/p>\n
