A Distressing Holiday House Fire
Recently, we received a distraught call from a Lawrenceburg family. A house fire had broken out in the kitchen of their two-story home, producing a significant amount of heat and smoke. As they evacuated, it burned through the ceiling and the second-story floor.
When the flames were extinguished, the family realized their home, as they once knew it, was destroyed, leaving them homeless before the holidays. Worse, their four beloved pets had perished in the fire. We knew that minutes mattered and arrived on the scene immediately.
Many of the family’s belongings required cleaning and storage after the house fire.
With the help of their insurance, the family immediately relocated to a temporary residence. However, the remains of their home and belongings still needed attention. Our crew worked diligently with the family to identify salvageable Christmas ornaments, decorations, and other personal belongings.
Then, we began packing and cleaning the home’s contents, where they would be stored safely in our warehouse.
The Restoration Road Ahead
With the home’s contents removed, all that remained was the fire damage restoration, which is currently underway. The necessary work will be extensive, including temporary protection measures, smoke odor removal using high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter devices, tearing out burnt building materials, and reconstruction.
After the contents have been cleaned and packed, restoration work still remains.
