What to do After the Presents

The presents have been opened, the wrapping paper has been cleaned up and the family has all finished their dinner. Now that everything has calmed down what can you and your family do? Here are some activities the whole family can participate in.

  • Make a Christmas themed scavenger hunt. Write up clues and hide things around the house and even outside if it’s a nice day. Hide Christmas things like ornaments, candy canes and a Santa hat.
  • Find a comfy spot, sit back, relax and have a Christmas movie marathon. Make a list of everyone’s favorites and have everyone wear their favorite Christmas pajamas.
  • ┬áDecorate cookies, make it a contest and whoever wins gets an extra cookie. Do the same with gingerbread cookie houses.
  • Make a hot cocoa bar. Make some different types of hot chocolate and have everyone pick out their favorite toppings, we suggest marshmallows and peppermint sticks, this is fun for adults and kids.
  • Get the family ready, bundle up and go have a fun time ice skating.
  • Pick a nice snowy mountain or a local area and have everyone grab a board to go sledding.
  • Go to see a light display and let everyone pick out their favorites. You can even do this around your neighborhood . Enjoy the lights and decorations everyone has put up.
  • Make Christmas bingo for the whole family to play; make the board with different characters or Christmas themed pictures. Whoever wins, can get a present!
  • Decorate a human! Get tissue paper, wrapping paper, bows and whatever else you can think of and decorate someone like a Christmas tree or present, make a contest out of it.
  • Christmas trivia is another activity the whole family can participate in, have someone come up with questions and that one person will need to have an answer key so you can keep count of who gets them right.
