You may or may not remember some of the shoddy work Tim “the Tool Man” Taylor was responsible for on the 90s sitcom Home Improvement, but you’ve probably at least heard horror stories about (or experienced your own) subpar handy work. It can compound an already stressful situation when the person you entrust to fix your home, ends up doing the opposite. One local family found themselves in this situation, until our team was able to step in and rectify the damage.
Poor Ventilation Causes Serious Mold Problem
Hiring the right handyperson for any job is imperative. A veteran and his semi-retired wife recently hired a handyperson to complete work in their bathroom in Little River. To make a long story short, he did not properly secure the exhaust fan. This caused poor ventilation, which led to serious mold growth from the shower/sink steam. The mold problem started impacting the homeowners’ health, causing migraines and breathing issues. When they discovered the source of their newfound health problems, they immediately called PuroClean.

Our clients did not have a specific time frame to complete the job, but it was important to get the job done as soon as possible for the homeowners’ health and safety. Our stellar technicians, Mike and Travis, worked together as a team, stepping in quickly to remediate the mold. The job required a small amount of demo work to locate and treat all the mold, which we reconstructed after the fact. A new exhaust fan with a proper seal was also installed to fix the problem that originally caused the mold.
The entire job took just about a week to complete. Our crew took proper precautions throughout the entire process, containing the contaminated area, and keeping the homeowners and themselves safe. In the end, we efficiently returned the house to its original condition and added another family to our list of satisfied clients.
