As a Property Claim Specialist, Large Loss Claim/Catastrophe Manager and Claim Performance Auditor with Nationwide and Kemper Insurance companies, JG Camia brings well over four decades of relevant experience to PuroClean of Raleigh. His goal as PuroClean’s senior estimator is to provide our clients with a positive and hassle free experience, as we work to bring their home or business back to a pre-loss condition. Recently brought on to the PuroClean of Raleigh team, Brady brings with him nearly 8 years of experience in property damage restoration and helping customers recover from their losses. Brady brings with him commercial large loss and catastrophe response experience along with certification in Applied Structural Drying (ASD). 1.    What does it mean to be “IICRC certified?”
The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration is a globally recognized, non-profit establishment that “promotes high standards and ethics, and advances communication and technology proficiency” in our industry (www.iicrc.org). The organization was founded in 1972 and there are currently more than 6,000 certified firms worldwide. As a consumer, when you choose a company that is IICRC certified, you know that you can expect quality work performed by a highly trained company with integrity.

 

2.    I’ve experienced a water loss. How long does it usually take to dry out my carpet and hardwood floors?
That depends. Typically, the longer the issue has gone unresolved, the longer the clean-up process takes. Damage that has just occured may be remediated that same day, whereas water that has been present for longer could take about four days, or longer if mold or other damage has formed. Calling us as soon as you discover an issue is the best way to prevent the problem from getting worse by taking more time to fix and costing you more. 

 

3.    Where can I find the main water/electrical shut-off in my house?
Usually the electrical shut-off is located in the garage, or inside a closet. The main water shut-off is typically located inside a closet near the front of the house. If you experience flood damage, it is important to shut off the electricity before walking near wet areas. If you are in doubt about whether or not it is safe to walk through the area, we suggest staying away from the area, or calling your local fire department for help.

 

4.    I have an appointment for technicians to come out to my house today. What do I need to do to prepare for them to arrive?
While you are waiting for our technicians to arrive, please use caution when accessing the damaged areas. Before you enter the area, make sure the electricity is turned off. If you have a broken water pipe, please shut off the water. If you have any personal items or valuables in the area, please move them to a secure location.

 

5.    Do I need to move my furniture out of the way?
No. Our technicians will handle all the heavy lifting.

 

  1. 6.    I am  a tenant--should I call your company or my landlord first?
  2. We are not legally permitted to perform any services to the property's structure without the property owner's permission. However, if your personal belonings have been affected by water, fire, mold, smoke, or biohazard damage, we are able to clean and/or pack your personal contents.

  4. 7.    I am not sure whether I should file a claim with my insurance company, or call your company to begin service first.
  5. Especially if you experience an emergency water loss, you should call us first. The longer you wait, the more severe the damage will become, thus the more costly it will be . When we arrive, we will start the restoartion process immediately, and we are happy to cooperate with you and your insurance agent throughout the entire process.

  7. 8.    How much will it cost?

That depends on many factors, such as the extent of the damage, the materials that were damaged, and the amount of time that has gone by since the damage occurred. Because of this, we are not able to provide estimates over the phone for restoration services. Our highly-trained inspector will need to visit the property in order to survey the damage. However, for some routine services, such as carpet cleaning, mold inspection and testing, and HVAC cleaning, we may be able to provide you with general pricing by phone.

  1. 9.    I had a water loss two days ago, what is the odor I now detect?

Typically, in a clean water loss situation, bacteria begins to grow and within 24-48 hours begins to off-gas.  If the source of water is not clean, these odors may appear sooner and by stronger.
