Most people trust that the coverage they get will cover them when disaster strikes whether it’s a flood, a burst frozen pipe, fire, furnace malfunction, mold growth, biohazard, hoarding situation or… and the list goes on.
It’s a good idea to call or sit with your insurance professional to discuss possible disasters (or as they say in the insurance industry “peril”), are you covered and what are the coverage limits. For example, are you covered if that maple tree in your front yard falls on your house? What about the trees that fall in you’re yard that don’t fall on your house? What about if a fungus like substance (mold) appears after a pipe breaks in your house? What is the coverage limit even if it is covered?
It’s a good idea to get to know your insurance agent and call them if you have any questions about coverage. The worst time to find out you’re not covered is when a disaster happens.
