Oswego, IL Water Damage Threatens to Ruin Homeowner’s Day

There’s never a good time to have a water loss.

This October PuroClean of Romeoville received a call from a customer who was, indeed, not having a good time.

Of course, having a basement is a wonderful thing when it comes to storage. However, if you don’t frequently inspect it you can find unwelcome surprises. (And we know, basement inspections aren’t typically on the top of someone’s “fun” list…)

In this case, our customer in Oswego, IL found out too late that their kitchen sink had been leaking down into their basement ceiling, walls and ultimately under the flooring. (But have no fear – PuroClean was able to respond after hours for our customer to start the drying process!)

We captured photos of the faulty water source (in the basement ceiling) and the resulting damages, then worked with our customer’s insurance adjuster to help move the claim along smoothly.

Our mitigation process involved removal of water damaged flooring, ceiling, and insulation. We then completed a thorough drying to get everything in shape for restoration.

Check out these “before” images – you can see how the drywall and floor had to be removed, and we’ve already begun drying the space with our special equipment.

Happily, the homeowner was so pleased with our mitigation service that they asked us to help complete the reconstruction following the loss.

Since everything was already somewhat demoed due to the original water damage and mitigation, it was a prime time to improve the space (we’re all about silver-linings)! They elected to include a couple of upgrades to their basement, including a complete paint color change as well as work on the home’s main level (which was not even related to the loss.)
