When a neighboring unit’s mishap led to a Category 2 water loss in Chula Vista, the residents faced significant stress and potential damage. Luckily, PuroClean of Bonita was able to swiftly respond. A crew led by one of our experienced Technicians, Ryan, initiated a comprehensive plan to mitigate the damage and restore the affected bathroom to its pre-loss condition.
Inspect, Contain, Mitigate
Our crew arrived promptly to inspect the damage. We immediately set about isolating the affected bathroom. Plastic barriers were erected to contain the damage within the bathroom and prevent any cross-contamination to other parts of the unit.
To tackle the moisture effectively, we installed one industrial-grade dehumidifier and two fans within the bathroom. Over the next three days, our team returned daily to monitor the drying process, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal moisture removal and prevent the growth of mold and bacteria.
Demolition and Detailed Cleaning
Once the bulk of the moisture was removed, our team proceeded with the careful demolition of unsalvageable materials and materials that could not be saved. This included the installation of a HEPA air scrubber to maintain clean air for our technicians and minimize dust during the process. We marked the walls of the bathroom for a two-foot flood cut and then meticulously removed the damaged drywall. Additionally, we removed the damaged vinyl flooring from the bathroom to prepare for a fresh installation.
Anti-Microbial Treatment and Final Drying
Following the demolition, our detail cleaning phase began. Every nook and cranny was HEPA vacuumed to eliminate dust and particles. We then treated the entire area with an anti-microbial spray to combat potential future mold growth, followed by a thorough wipe down to ensure the structure was impeccably clean.
To ensure all residual moisture was eradicated, we repositioned our drying equipment to run overnight. By the next day, the drying process was complete, leaving the property moisture-free and ready for the reconstruction phase.
