How does this version of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Spread?

Person-to-Person

“Person-to-Person” has been known to be the most common way COVID-19 is spread. This happens with individuals who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet). Droplets produced by the respiratory system when an individual infected with COVID-19 coughs or sneezes land on the face, mouths or noses of people nearby. Furthermore, these droplets can be inhaled into lungs.

Spread from contact with contaminated surfaces or objects

According to the CDC, it could likely be possible that a person can contract COVID-19 by coming into contact with a surface or object which has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes.

Prioritizing Safety

It is of high importance to work with biohazard removal while also paying strict attention to safety, industry and OSHA standards and guidelines. Our trained technicians wear specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure your personal safety. They also contain the area, taking the appropriate steps to keep you and your family or employees safe as well.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

First, wearing proper PPE is a requirement. PuroClean technicians wear a full-face respirator to protect them against airborne bacteria coming in contact with the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, or eyes. They also wear Biohazard protective coveralls, shoe covers, and Nitrile gloves.

Hospital-grade EPA-registered Products

Special towelettes are used that also conform to OSHA’s bloodborne pathogen standard to fight diseases like the coronavirus and other diseases, bacteria, mold, mildew, tuberculosis, and viruses. These and more cleaning supplies used by our industry certified technicians are all hospital grade and EPA-registered disinfectants.

The Coronavirus Cleaning Materials

The cleaning materials our technicians normally work with include:

  1. Disposable microfiber wipes, brushes and/or cleaning sponges
  2. Trigger or Pressure sprayers
  3. Trash bags and tape for sealing
  4. Buckets and Mops
  5. Portable carpet extractor for cleaning carpets and upholstery

Our Application Procedures for Disinfectant

PuroClean uses three methods for applying disinfectants. Depending on the circumstances, technicians apply hospital grade, EPA-registered disinfectants in one of these three ways:

  1. Spray application: A pump or electric sprayer is used for this process. This item is preferred if the item or surface is free of visible dirt and soil.
  2. Disinfecting towelettes: We use these for cleaning electronics like phones and computers. If the surface or item has no visible soil or dirt, using towelettes is a preferred method.
  3. Microfiber pads/wipes: Typically, these are implemented as an alternative to using disinfecting towelettes – these are used along with appropriate products in a spray bottle that is correctly labeled.

Cleaning Surfaces and Materials that are Porous

Synthetic rugs, carpets, curtains and upholstery: Our Technicians will clean these items manually or by machine cleaning. Appropriate disinfectants for the appropriate cleaning of the textiles and carpet will be applied for the cleaning; extraction will be done where applicable.

Natural fabrics, rugs, curtains, and upholstery must be cleaned in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Important: Washing machines should always be disinfected after contaminated items are washed. For the disinfecting of clothing, linens and other personal fabrics, contaminated articles are to be laundered following instructions on every label.

Tanned leather items – We can clean these materials by wiping the surfaces with a cloth lightly moistened with disinfectant solution or disinfectant towelettes.

Suede and Nu-buck leather material – These should be cleaned according to the guidelines of the manufacturer.

Concrete, cinder block, wood, plywood, and oriented strand board (OSB) – Cleansed by applying the disinfectant solution directly onto the items.

HVAC system – HVAC internal duct surfaces and components should be cleaned in accordance with industry guidelines by a licensed HVAC contractor or NADCA certified duct cleaner. External duct surfaces, grills, grates, and registers should be cleaned with a disinfectant solution.

Our Deodorization Process

Typically, when the affected area is cleaned and begins to dry, odors will go away. However, PuroClean technicians will determine if further deodorization is required.

PuroClean’s Promise

We understand that a biohazard event can be sensitive and stressful and must be handled with empathy, care and discretion. PuroClean restoration professionals are fully licensed and certified to follow all applicable laws and standards to remediate incidents safely.

RESPECTFUL: Our biohazard cleaning technicians treat every affected area and item professionally and respectfully, as if it were our own.

HIGHEST STANDARDS: PuroClean uses proven products approved to provide protection, prevent contamination and reduce the risk of spreading dangerous pathogens.

ADVANCED CLEANING SYSTEM: PuroClean RapidDefense is an innovative procedure used to start the disinfection process of public places the most effective and safe way possible. Our process uses disinfectants that help prevent virus and other pathogen-based contamination in areas close by.

Proper Cleaning and Disinfection of Equipment

Before PuroClean technicians vacate a property that was contaminated by the coronavirus, they will completely clean all tools, PPE, and equipment that was used during the coronavirus cleanup, using a hospital-grade, EPA-registered disinfectant.

Per the CDC, Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces are the recommended actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, like coronavirus. Since any surface can be re-contaminated after cleaning, and because the coronavirus is also spread person-to-person, PuroClean’s services are not guaranteed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) for more information regarding coronavirus, its spread, and prevention.
