Water damage is the most common type of property disaster in the world. And, if not treated quickly, moisture can easily cultivate mold growth and cause the damage to increase exponentially. Mold growth can begin 24-hours after a flood. Recently, a leaky AC unit caused some interior flooding inside a Wellington apartment. So, the tenant called PuroClean of Wellington to clean the apartment of water and mitigate the mold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remediating Water in the Wellington Apartment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first step whenever our crew arrives is to fully assess the damage. We use special cameras to identify high levels of moisture through color saturations. And, the results in this case revealed water damage in the AC closet, the main bedroom, the kitchen, the living room, and the dining room. In almost every location, there was visible evidence of microbial growth to coincide with the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remediation began with the containment of the water in the bedroom. We installed dehumidifiers and air-movers in the room to remove the moisture from the air. Then, we discovered a water leak from the inside of the wall between the AC closet and the main bedroom. This was clearly the cause of the mold we could see on both sides of the wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We proceeded to remove the wet, moldy drywall, only to discover that the firewall and insulation were also saturated with water. Unfortunately, we had to remove part of the firewall and the insulation from this area, making sure to address all of the surfaces where we detected microbes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we turned our attention to the laminate flooring. Water had seeped underneath the surface and soaked into the sub-flooring beneath. Our crew lifted up the flooring to be sure it was thoroughly dried. We discovered the water had even penetrated the door frame, so we removed that affected material as well. We installed air scrubbers and dehumidifiers in the remaining rooms and waited. After all of that, we finally were able to perform the reconstruction and began the process of returning the apartment to its pre-loss condition<\/p>\n\n\n\n
