Growing up in a challenging New York neighborhood as one of six siblings in the foster care system, Maurice dreamed of becoming a superhero\u2014not the comic book kind, but someone who lifts others up and creates lasting change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being selected as our superhero was a deeply emotional moment for Maurice. It brought him to tears\u2014not for the recognition itself, but for what it represented: a reflection of his hard work, perseverance, and the many lives he\u2019s touched. This honor is more than a title\u2014it\u2019s the realization of a life dedicated to service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step It Up Camp: A Lifeline for Local Youth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more than 12 years, Maurice has led Step It Up Camp, a nonprofit organization that provides vital support to underserved youth across King and Snohomish Counties. His mission is about empowerment\u2014creating safe, inclusive spaces where kids can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maurice\u2019s work creates more than just opportunities. It creates transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Some standout Step It Up Camp initiatives include:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Step It Up 2 Tech \u2013 Teaching digital literacy to prepare youth for a tech-driven world<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Latino Club \u2013 Supporting Latino youth and families with culturally relevant programs<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>V.I.P.
