Biohazard Cleanup Leads to Tears of Gratitude from Local Resident

Biohazard Clean Up

Some of the best parts of working in our industry are helping people and making an impact in our community. Although we are trained for disasters, many of our clients have never experienced water damage, mold issues, or biohazard waste, and feel lost when they first call us. Our job isn’t just to remediate the damage but to help our clients, who are dealing with difficult (and sometimes traumatic) situations, feel at ease during the process through knowledge, professionalism, and empathy.

Going Above and Beyond to Help Our Clients

Our crew was recently called to a home in Spring Branch for a biohazard cleaning; a terrible accident left bloodstains on the carpets and splatter on the walls. By the time we were called to the home, a week after the incident, the blood had been sitting in the carpet, soaked into the fibers and dried. As if this wasn’t enough, the homeowner also had three huge dogs who had contributed feces and an excess of their hair to the soiled carpet. The homeowner, an elderly woman with limited mobility, lives by herself with the three dogs, while her husband, a retired Marine, lives in a nearby VA facility.

When our technicians first arrived, they had to assess the biohazard, remove the blood-stained carpet, vacuum all the dog hair, and then complete a heavy-duty carpet cleaning. Our team used their blood-borne pathogen training and knowledge to conquer the carpet in just one day. But, even though our work with the carpet was finished, we weren’t done helping our client.

As the project wound down, our client asked if we knew someone who could attach a door to her bedroom. Without hesitation, our team volunteered to come back the next day to help her. Though home repairs like this aren’t normally part of our service, we were pleased to assist the homeowner. She was thrilled with our work and was moved to tears that we would go above and beyond to help her with the bedroom door. This wasn’t just a simple task to her, as she told us as we left how much she appreciated that her grandkids would have a safer space to play in.
