Laundry Room Plumbing Leak Causes Flooding Throughout Boerne Home

Hardwood floors are a beautiful addition to any home. They can enhance a living space and add a touch of flair. However, they do not come problem-free. Hardwood naturally expands and contracts in its environment. If certain conditions are present, like a laundry room plumbing leak that turned into flooding, hardwood floorboards can buckle, creating uneven surfaces. Severe Buckling from Water Damage Leaves Floors Beyond Repair

In December 2021, we received a call from a couple in Boerne with a laundry room plumbing leak. What started as a small leak ultimately turned into flooding that affected the laundry room, kitchen, and office. We started the remediation process immediately. Our technicians set up air movers to completely dry the floors and walls. For any water loss situation, it’s always important to thoroughly dry all of the affected areas, including what’s beneath the surface; areas that aren’t 100% dried become susceptible to mold growth.

We were able to dry the walls in three days. Unfortunately, the gorgeous hardwood floors did not show any significant drying due to complete saturation and severe buckling with bound water underneath. We reached out to the homeowners’ insurance company and they gave us the go-ahead to remove the floors.

Because the laundry room plumbing leak happened in December, the couple did not want to have their floors pulled up during the holidays. They asked us to wait until the holidays were over and the replacement flooring had arrived to begin that process. The stall in the floor replacement puts the homeowners at risk for more issues with the potential for microbial growth. When the flooring arrives our team will need to check for any mold growth.

Though the remediation was completed quickly, we are currently in a holding pattern waiting for the replacement flooring to arrive. The homeowners have been extremely happy with our work so far, and we are keeping them informed of developments. We are looking forward to getting the new flooring installed so the couple can once again enjoy their immaculate hardwood floors!
