Water Damage Restoration in Deerfield Beach

Water Restoration

A family experienced one of their biggest fears, a major flood in their house. This is how they managed it.

It was around 1:00 AM when John (77 years old) discovered that his entire kitchen and dining room were flooded. A broken pipe next to the laundry room was the cause of it all. Immediately, John closed the water faucet and tried to remain calm. Then, he looked for water damage restoration in Deerfield Beach, and after a quick search, he decided to call PuroClean.

Twenty minutes after the call, the Puroclean of Deerfield Beach crew arrived at the affected premises, located near the area known as The Cove, and used three flood pumpers to extract the water rapidly. Within an hour and a half, almost all the liquid was dried from the surface, but the moisture was still showing through the meters.

“During a flood, time is crucial. If you extract the water from the surface within the first few hours, the drying will be much faster and cost-effective. That’s why we come immediately when we’re called, even during the night or after hours”, explained Joaquin Seminario, owner of PuroClean of Deerfield Beach.

After the water superficial water was removed, the PuroClean crew placed extracting mats over the wooden floors while using extraction rovers in the carpeted area. The place looked much better, but wood is a porous material and can retain a lot of moisture, which, if not addressed correctly, can lead to mold growth.

“There is nothing more nerve-wracking than having water damage during the night and not knowing what to do or how to act. The People from PuroClean of Deerfield Beach gave us a lot of tranquility while addressing the problem promptly. It was a big relief for us.”, explained Janet, homeowner and John’s wife.

Four hours later, Erick from the PuroClean crew used a moisture meter to get the moisture level within the house’s affected materials.

“Even though the wood was only exposed to the water for a few hours, the meter showed a lot of liquid absorbed inside the tiles of wood and the carpet. As a result, we will need at least five air movers and two dehumidifiers”, explained the specialist.

The next step was to place the dehumidifiers and air movers in the affected rooms to let the airflow facilitate the drying of the materials quickly.

“Since the flood was of category 1 (clean source), removing the flooring or carpet, which are completely dryable materials, seemed unnecessary. That’s why we decided to return everything to pre loss condition without changing the wood. Just by leaving the dehumidifiers for at least two days, to eliminate the moisture and checking the numbers day by day, we can assure a proper water damage cleanup”, explained Erick from PuroClean.

After three days of hard work, the PuroClean crew used water meters and other equipment to measure the moisture level in the affected surfaces. Everything was back to normal, and the Deerfield Beach family was able to get back to their everyday lives.

“I think that one of the main things that helped me a lot during this process was that the people from PuroClean of Deerfield Beach assessed all of the problems in the house and explained them to me in the clearest and most empathetic way. They were kind and clear about all of the procedures that needed to be done. They told me everything they in every step of the way. The customer service was top notch, and I highly recommend them.”, finalized Janet.
