In December 2021, we responded to a large-scale disaster that happened at a well-known furniture retailer in Doral. The Fire that Started the Flood Cleanup Job in Doral, FL 

Due to a few faulty solar panels, the roof of the furniture warehouse caught fire. Firefighters were called and came to save the building quickly. In order to extinguish the fire, they had to open holes in the roof. This way, the fire could not spread below the roof and cause fire damage inside the building.

The firefighters then used large amounts of water to extinguish the fire, causing a massive flood inside the 120,000 sqft facility. The structure and many of the contents inside were affected by the flood, including a big portion of the ceiling, the carpet, vinyl flooring, the furniture in the exhibition halls, and drywall throughout.

We arrived at the scene within a few hours of being called. Time is of the essence in these critical situations and we got there as soon as we could. When we arrived, our restoration experts assessed the situation and started the water damage cleanup job right away.

Four different crews of technicians extracted water through the night and into the next day. We deployed more than 40 dehumidifiers, 150 air movers, and specialized drying equipment like high-capacity desiccant dehumidifiers. We also used generators to provide power to our equipment. This is how much equipment is necessary to quickly and efficiently dry out a 120,000 sqft area.

But this wasn’t over yet! Because the building also suffered from fire, we had to mitigate that damage, as well. We placed air scrubbers and hydroxyl generators throughout the facility. These machines assisted in eliminating the smoke odor that the fire produced.

Overall, we completed the water extraction in the first two days. It took a bit longer because water kept dripping from the ceiling. The drying phase was completed in the first five days. Finally, we provided the remaining cleanup services in seven days and needed two more days to take care of a few other details.

The showroom reopened two weeks after the incident and was ready to display its beautiful furniture once again!
