We traveled to the job site in the La Jolla neighborhood to assess the damage and communicate with the property owner. Locating, Containing, and Drying The Flood

The water damage in the unit was caused by an angle stop (a small valve often used in household plumbing that is placed where a pipe changes directions at a right angle) burst, causing water to spread to the entire vacant unit. Our first task in the restoration was to locate the moisture to isolate it and contain it. This would prevent any further areas from becoming affected by the water. Using a FLIR Thermal Imaging camera, we quickly determined how far the water had traveled. We were able to set drying equipment to stabilize the environment immediately.

We built containments to create drying chambers which allowed us to get great drying progress daily. By acting fast, we dried 90% of the unit in place with minimal demolition. However, the floorboards still needed to be removed for our drying equipment to remove the moisture adequately.

In total, we were able to dry out the unit within 5 days. The homeowner was pleased with the work we performed and the clarity and honesty we exhibited throughout the process.
