Spring is Nearly Here!

Mold Restoration

Spring is just around the corner, kind of. This means warmer temps, wet weather, and unfortunately the possibility of mold and or water damage in your home or business increases. On a positive note, there are steps you can take to avoid having these unwanted guests around. In this blog, we will go through just a couple of ways that you can prepare for the change in weather and temperature to protect your property.

Make Sure There is Airflow in the Attic

Mold is a tough nemesis to defeat sometimes. The best way to get the win over mold is to stop it before it starts. One of the best ways to prepare for the Spring is to go up into your attic and make sure that air is able to flow through the area. Sometimes insulation can cover the venting that is designed to maintain airflow in the space and this can cause damp and hot air to stick around and cause mold. Taking a quick trip up the stairs or ladder could end up saving a lot of time and money!

Check Gutters

Another way to avoid potential damage is to check your gutters once the ice is gone. Checking that your gutters are clear and are able to take water away from the home or business is a great way to reduce your chances of potential water damage affecting the exterior walls of the building. Checking your gutters regularly is always a good practice however the first check of the season could be pivotal in the fight against any kind of damage.

Check any Wet Pipes and A/C Units

The last tip to help protect your home against water and mold damage is to check any exposed plumbing in the building for leaks and wipe away any moisture that may be clinging to the pipes. You can also check any drip fans that may be on your A/C units and make sure you empty and dry them as well. Doing your best to stay on top of keeping the area dry can save a lot of headaches in the long run. Any kind of sitting water, when left alone for long enough can cause damage or promote mold growth.
