Our Story

Located 15 minutes from Norfolk, in the heart of Coastal Virginia, is the beautiful and historic city of Chesapeake.  Chesapeake is a diverse city comprising urban areas and many square miles of protected farmland, forests, and wetlands, like the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge

Chesapeake is a city filled with parks, trails, and waterways for family outings. Among its outdoor recreation attractions are Dismal Swamp Canal, the historic Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways Park, and Chesapeake City Park. These parks are rich with history and nature and provide access to activities ranging from hiking, biking, walking, running, cycling, kayaking, and paddleboarding to boat tours and bird watching.

Chesapeake also boasts a range of cultural and historic offerings as well as a wide array of entertainment venues where you can see everything from Broadway musicals, ballet, and Shakespearean plays to stand-up comics, and major musical headliners. Among these various options are Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Harrison Opera House, TCC Roper Performing Arts Center, Chrysler Hall, Atlantic Union Bank Pavilion, Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach, The American Theatre, and Chesapeake’s African American Heritage Trail.
