How the Water Damage Restoration Process Works

Water Restoration

Here at PuroClean Fire & Water Damage Specialists, we know your home is important to you, and we understand how devastating it is to have that home suffer water damage. However, if your home has been damaged by a flood, burst pipe, or other cause, don’t lose hope—our water damage restoration experts can clean up your home and return the affected areas to their former glory. In this article, our team will provide a brief summary of how the water damage restoration process works so that you have an idea of what will happen going forward.

  1. Cleanup- The first step in water damage restoration is to remove any standing water that remains in your home. To do this, we will use a system of vacuums and pumps to suck up the liquid and move it into a tank, which we will then use to remove that excess water from the premises entirely. Following that, we will clean up any debris.
  2. Assessment- Once the visible water is out of the way, the next step in water damage restoration is to assess the condition of the items and materials in the affected area, especially porous materials such as fabric, carpet, etc. In some cases, the materials may be too waterlogged to be saved–even materials that appear dry can still contain pockets of moisture that encourage the growth of mold.
  3. Removal – Next, any materials or items that are too far gone will be removed and disposed of. This helps prevent further damage.
  4. Dehumidification- Once the affected materials are removed, the next step is to dehumidify the area, removing as much moisture from the air and remaining materials as possible.
  5. Restoration- The final step in water damage restoration is to actually restore the damaged area, replacing any materials that had to be removed, repainting, and generally making the place look like new. While we do not perform this final step ourselves, we are happy to give you referrals to another trusted company that can assist you with restoration.
