Water Damage in Boca Raton: a neighbor’s story

Water Restoration

Water damage in Boca Raton? this is how Lynette, a 68 year old woman, remediated her house flood, and got her property back to a-pre loss condition.

It was around 11:00 pm when Lynette noticed a dripping sound coming from her living room. At first, she thought it was her kitchen sink, but it wasn’t until she passed through the hallway that her feet got wet. She turned on the light and saw a lot of water coming in through her ceiling and into her walls.

Lynette lives in the Boca Raton area, and this is the first water damage situation that she has experienced.

“I’m a 68-year-old woman, and this is the first time that something like this happens to me. I’m scared and quite frankly baffled about what could have caused this. Luckily a friend of mine recommended me Puroclean back in the day when she had a property emergency.” Said, Lynette.

Lynette immediately called PuroClean of Deerfield Beach. The company came within 30 minutes and assessed the problem. Turns out a broken pipe within the walls caused the issue. A local plumber turned off the neighbor’s water supply. Shortly after, the PuroClean specialists started to extract the water from the floor and walls.

“First we used moisture meters to identify the extent of the damage and determine the level of moisture in the drywall and flooring. We documented everything using our software, and started to extract the water to prevent further damage” said Erick from PuroClean of Deerfield Beach.

“They used water vacuums, rovers, and other equipment to thoroughly remediate the water damage and bring my house to a pre-loss condition. I was surprised at how fast they got hands-on with the issue”, explained Lynette.

After the water was extracted PuroClean of Deerfield Beach placed three large dehumidifiers and 14 air movers in all the affected areas. Within only 4 days, the problem was completely remediated and Lynette was able to return to her everyday life.

“During the process of drying my house, they were extremely patient and thorough. They even helped me file the claim with the insurance company. I felt safe, guided, and like a big weight was lifted from my shoulders” added Lynette.

The neighbors return

A few weeks later, Lynette’s neighbor came back from his vacation, only to find his house was equally damaged.  They also called PuroClean to remediate the problem, but this now had turned into a bigger issue. The painting on the walls was already bubbled and the flooring needed to be replaced since it was vinyl.

“Vinyl flooring that’s been exposed to water, a lot of the times needs to be replaced. It absorbs water creating a moldy environment. In this case, the materials remained wet for over a week.”, explained the PuroClean specialist.

The damage restoration company did flood cuts in the drywall and extracted all the moisture possible. Then they removed part of the flooring and thoroughly dried the concrete that was underneath. After a week, this house was also dry and it was time to replace the flooring and repair the drywall.
