Caring for Our Community: Delivering Joy for Lafayette Residents

The holiday season brings out the best in Lafayette — a time when neighbors, schools, and local businesses unite to help others. This year, PuroClean of Lafayette proudly continued its tradition of community support through a food drive that brought together local organizations, schools, and volunteers to make a difference for families in need.

Our annual event wasn’t just about collecting food — it was about celebrating the generosity and compassion that make Lafayette such a strong and connected community.

A Legacy of Giving in Lafayette

At PuroClean of Lafayette, we believe that a restoration company’s purpose goes beyond repairing properties — it’s about restoring hope. Each year, our team takes part in local volunteer efforts to give back to the Tippecanoe County community we serve daily.

On November 4, 2022, our team once again partnered with Food Finders Food Bank, a vital resource for local families across Greater Lafayette. Team members Matt Booth, Tyson Swinhart, and Mckinzie Remaly loaded up our signature PuroClean trucks and delivered oversized collection containers to Wyandotte Elementary School for the school’s annual food drive.

The Wyandotte students eagerly filled these containers with donations — a simple yet powerful act of kindness that exemplifies Lafayette’s caring spirit. Marketing manager Jessica Fishero ensured everything ran smoothly and couldn’t resist capturing the moment as our team helped organize the deliveries.

This effort reflects our mission: helping our neighbors when they need it most, whether it’s during a disaster restoration project or a community event.

Growing a Tradition: The Annual Food Drive

The PuroClean of Lafayette fall food drive began as a small local initiative, but it quickly evolved into one of our most rewarding community traditions. After the success of our first event, we launched our second-annual food-for-food agency contest, challenging local insurance partners to join the cause and collect as many donations as possible for Food Finders.

The results were nothing short of inspiring. Together, we gathered 946 pounds of food — nearly double the amount collected during the previous year’s event. These contributions went directly to families in need throughout Lafayette and Tippecanoe County.

Our winners showcased incredible enthusiasm:

  • 1st Place: Ashlie Adsit of American Family Insurance, with 425 pounds donated
  • 2nd Place: Jay Bluming of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, West Lafayette Branch, with 250 pounds
  • 3rd Place: The Mitchell Agency, with 50 pounds

We also recognized Epic Brokers Midwest, our franchise’s trusted insurance partner, with an office luncheon prize to celebrate their ongoing support and generosity.

This event proved that when Lafayette businesses and residents come together, even a simple contest can become a powerful symbol of unity and compassion.

How You Can Continue Supporting the Community

While our food drive wrapped up in the fall, the need for community support continues throughout the year. Food Finders Food Bank always welcomes donations to keep local pantries stocked and families fed.

When contributing, consider adding items that are often overlooked but essential:

  • Cooking staples such as vegetable oils, sugar, flour, and spices
  • Pantry basics like boxed potatoes, stovetop stuffing, and condiments
  • Personal care items including feminine hygiene products and dish soap
  • Tools that make a difference, such as can openers and utensils

These items might seem small, but together, they make a big impact for local households in need. To learn more about donation opportunities, visit Food Finders.
