Our Story

In the near western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, there are many fun activities, ranging from outdoor recreation to historical venues. The Brookfield Zoo and the home of Frank Lloyd Wright, and the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway are treasured spaces. A family favorite is the Oak Park Fall Festival at Rehm Park, where many typically enjoy games, hayrides, and pumpkin picking to welcome fall. 

Several years ago, John Carney’s wife hired a handyman to hang a shelf in their powder room. John recalls, “What the handyman thought was a stud was in fact the bathroom pipe hidden behind the wall. After three months of not knowing, the damage had traveled from our third floor to our basement. We hired a mitigation company to locate the leak and dry the area. It was at this point I considered a mitigation business.”

PuroClean’s mission is to serve families and businesses when they need us most. It is paramount that Puroclean becomes a resource for our neighbors. John says that he enjoys helping people, “I have spent countless nights and weekends helping friends and family clean up after a flood in the basement or with a simple move from one town to another. I find this work exciting and fulfilling.” 

Much of this part of the western suburbs of Chicago lies along the Des Plaines River. Here, when there is heavy rain, basements often flood.
