“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi’s words instruct us to contribute to a better world because we have the power to influence change. PuroClean of Woodinville strives to be that active leader, helping our community, and living up to that ideal. When the “Helen’s Place” women’s shelter opened up in nearby Kirkland, we were compelled to make a contribution.
Lending a Hand to “The Sophia Way”
“Helen’s Place” is the second and newest location of “The Sophia Way” women’s shelter in Washington. Their mission is to end homelessness for women in King County by providing shelter, supportive services, and permanent housing with support.
The shelter in Kirkland is open every day of the year, offering women the care and comfort they need. “Helen’s Place” has on-site mental health services, clean, warm beds, showers and laundry facilities, nutritious meals, and case management. Our community is much stronger because of the work they do.
In honor of their opening, PuroClean hosted a drive that gathered donations of supplies. The donation included paper towels, toilet paper, clothing, bedside tables, lamps, plastic totes, toiletries, Amazon gift cards, cash, and more! When we got there, they had just run out of snacks so they were especially happy to see a fresh shipment come in.
Our Contact with “Helen’s Place”, Megan Duncan, reached out after our donation to say “Thank you again for your amazing donation! It was a huge stress relief to see the pantry so full… Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting this amazing non-profit!” We are so grateful to be able to help such an amazing organization and to do our part to strengthen our community.
