Restoring an Apartment in McLean from Fire Damage

Fire Restoration

We may not often think about the electrical outlets in our homes. These outlets power countless electronics and appliances simultaneously without drawing much notice. However, frequently they are the cause of house fires. Recently, PuroClean provided fire damage restoration to an apartment complex in McLean after an electrical fire.

A Building, Back from the Ashes

The story starts with an electrical fire spreading across an apartment building, affecting multiple floors and units. After the fire department extinguished the blaze, the property manager for the building called PuroClean to remediate and repair the damage to the structure.

Our team arrived on site and immediately began the process of evaluating the extent of the damage. The fire had originated from a faulty electrical outlet in a unit on the second floor, and it spread to multiple units on the third floor as well as the staircase. Of course, the fire had burned through much of the drywall, damaging the walls and leaving deposits of ash on every surface.

Before cleanup and restoration could begin, our crew took an inventory of all salvageable items on the premises for insurance purposes. These items were transported to a secure location offsite to be cleaned and restored. Contents or materials that couldn’t be saved were properly disposed of. We then secured the building, boarding up openings to prevent trespassers and rain getting in.

The technicians then started cleaning up the ash. They were equipped with the correct protective gear (PPE) to prevent injury or inhalation of toxic materials in the rubble. So, with the debris finally removed, our team began full sanitation and deodorization of the property to remove any biological contaminants that may exist.

The final step was the reconstruction of the damaged building. We stripped the charred drywall, exposing the wooden frame beneath. From there, our technicians replaced the walls, ceilings, and flooring to pre-loss condition. The job took about 2 weeks to complete, and the property manager was grateful for our quick and effective work. They also appreciated our frequent communication throughout the job.
