Meditation with Shingza Rinpoche

Community Event on Meditation & Compassion with His Eminence, Shingza Rinpoche

In The Community

In December 2019, PuroClean of Alexandria organized a very special community event in Alexandria, VA. It was a live meditation session and discussion with His Eminence the Eleventh Shingza Rinpoche. Born in Amdo, Tibet, he was recognized as a reincarnation by the Raga Gompa Monastery at the age of 13.

This was an event that our fellow BNI members, as well as friends, requested us to host. After a first attempt to bring Shingza Rinpoche to the group didn’t go as planned, lots of people expressed interest in still making the event happen!

Modern life is highly stressful. But luckily, more and more people recognize the importance of taking a break, calming the mind and showing compassion in everyday life. Meditation is a medium through which you can achieve those things. At PuroClean of Alexandria, we also recognize the importance of meditation, especially since we work with people that suffered severe property losses from water, fire or mold damage.

Making Meditation Happen

And so, we made the event happen with help from BNI VP, Claire Liston, from C Liston Communications Inc., at her office. Most of the people who attended were BNI members, friends and families, as well as some other local people. Everyone got along great and had an amazing time.

It was a very successful event. The Venerable Shingza Rinpoche was happy to share his teachings and conduct a live meditation session with the group. He guided them through a brief meditation, and then answered questions about meditation, compassion, his learnings, and his life.

Then, as an added treat, we brought in some traditional Tibetan food and drinks. After lunch, the group took photos and thanked Claire for hosting the event. This couldn’t have been possible without her. (Thank you so much, Claire!)

The next day, the people who made and didn’t make the event thanked us for organizing the event. We would also like to thank the Venerable Shingza Rinpoche for agreeing to be part of this important community event. We look forward to another successful local meditation!
