Fireworks Safety

This year, summertime looks a little different for many families. Whether or not your 4th of July plans include a public fireworks display, please consider these tips for staying safe this holiday.

How to Use Fireworks Safely – the basics:

  • Obey fireworks laws.
  • Only purchase legal fireworks for your area.
  • Keep fireworks safe and dry.
  • Use fireworks with caution, following all safety instructions.
  • Discard spent fireworks safely including waiting 20 minutes then soaking all spent fireworks and duds in water.

How to Stay Safe During Fireworks Display:

  • Follow all safety protocols and don’t cross safety barriers.
  • Stay at least 500 feet from the launch site.
  • Don’t touch any fireworks remains.

How to Protect your Pets from Fireworks:

  • Don’t take your pets to a fireworks display. They have sensitive ears!
  • If neighborhood fireworks upset your pet, keep them in a safe, interior room and play music to muffle to sound.
