At PuroClean, we believe in the power of community. In a fast-paced world, small acts of kindness and unwavering service can make a meaningful difference. This belief is at the heart of our PuroClean Cares®: National Superhero Campaign, inspired by National Superhero Day and created to spotlight everyday heroes who quietly uplift their communities in extraordinary ways.
The 2025 campaign was a tremendous success, with nominations pouring in from across the country. These heroes—our neighbors, friends, and family members—demonstrated that being a superhero doesn’t require a cape. It simply takes heart, compassion, and the will to make life better for others.
Honoring a Local Hero: Joe Matuscak
One of the standout moments of this year’s campaign was presenting the PuroClean Emergency Restoration Superhero Award to an exceptional community leader: Joe Matuscak.
Joe’s commitment to service is nothing short of inspiring. He serves on the board of NAMI Lorain County, the Governor’s Advisory Council for Problem Gambling, and has held the role of President—three times—at the North Coast Rotary Club. His contributions extend further through his involvement with the State of Ohio’s Behavioral Health Communications Council, where he helps shape important public health messaging.
Beyond his official roles, Joe is a driving force behind several impactful local initiatives. He has spearheaded:
- A Rotary blanket drive that donated over 4,500 blankets to those in need.
- The Storybook Trail project in Avon, encouraging literacy and outdoor activity.
- Scholarship programs to support local students in pursuing higher education.
- Community Safety Fairs in Elyria and Avon, hosted at Home Depot locations.
Joe’s work with LCADA Way (The Lorain County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services) exemplifies his deep compassion for those in recovery. Through the Adopt a Bed program at the Key Women’s Center, he has ensured that women and children entering recovery are welcomed with dignity and support—providing comfort baskets and a sense of belonging during a vulnerable time.
Thanks to Joe’s tireless efforts, LCADA Way has become a beacon of trust and support throughout the region.
