National Superhero Day is April 28. There are many superheroes in our lives and in our community. Bradley county and Cleveland host a variety of wonderful heroes who aid people everyday. Our military, veterans, firefighters, law enforcement, Emergency Medical Technicians, medical professionals, religious leaders and electrical technicians, are only a few we could mention. We want to recognize an entire organization as our superhero this year. We’ve chosen The Caring Place.
The Caring Place began in 2000 as four area Churches of God combined their outreach ministries. It has changed names over time from The Lift and Redemption Ministries to The Caring Place in 2005. In 2012 it began its Sac Pac program feeding some 20,000 children a year. Volunteers can be found at The Caring Place packing sack meals for children to have food during weekends and other times they may be out of school. They reach 700 children a week with a meal.
We see an entire non-profit filled with staff and volunteers who assist our community with food, clothing, housing, skills to work a job, and job placement. They help create community for our neighbors and assist with tools like goal-setting, budget-creating, money mangement, as well as giving spiritual assistance. They open a door of hope for our neighbors. We’re proud to support The Caring Place and whole-heartedly recognize them as our 2024 superhero. See our Facebook award posting reel here.
