Trials and “Tree-bulations”: Conducting Water Damage Mitigation of Everett Home

Water Restoration

The elements can create significant destruction to residential and commercial properties. Fire, water, and even mold can compromise the structural integrity of your home or business, ruin personal belongings, and lead to other issues that can make a property uninhabitable.

Water damage is one to look out for since it can lead to further complications if not addressed promptly.

If you unexpectedly find yourself in a property damage disaster, PuroClean of Redmond/Woodinville is here to assist you. We provide various mitigation services, including water damage, fire and smoke damage, and mold removal.

What’s That Sound?

Recently, our office received a call from a woman requesting our services for her senior parents in Everett, Washington. Overnight, the weight of rain and melting snow had caused a tree branch to fall into her parents’ home. The branch collapse punctured the roof, causing water damage. As a result, water ran down the wall, damaging the top floor bedroom and kitchen below.

Surprisingly, the loud noise didn’t rouse the couple from their sleep, and in the morning, they even initially assumed the water leaked from the dishwasher.

The water damage inside the house.
The water infiltrated the inside of the home.

When we arrived, we conducted a thorough assessment of the affected areas. Our team observed that the water poured from the home’s sliding glass door and behind the kitchen cupboards and backsplash.

A Work in Progress

A fallen tree branch caused water damage.
The small-but-mighty tree branch was removed from the roof.

We used state-of-the-art equipment, such as moisture meters, to determine the water level in the kitchen walls.

The moisture determines the amount of water damage.
The moisture meter detects unseen water damage that may be present in walls.

As of this blog’s publication, our technicians are about to begin the water mitigation to dry out and remove any moisture damage. Water mitigation is the first step in the process that addresses water damage. It prevents further damage and involves water removal, moisture control, and structural drying. Doing this will allow the contractors to restore the kitchen.

The couple’s daughter, who coordinated the efforts, is a former commercial insurance agent who understands our job’s complexity. She appreciates our team’s kindness and compassion during this stressful time.

We especially want to thank Mary Donatelli for personally meeting the clients, assuring them they’d be in good hands, and acting as a liaison between our company and their insurance agent. We’re also grateful for Fong Cha, who assessed the damage and communicated with the clients throughout the process. Our team is outstanding!
