PuroClean Sanitizes Pests From 2 Police Cruisers

Biohazard Clean Up

In the restoration field, some issues are more commonplace than others. However, when a problem is unexpected, it doesn’t mean we’re unprepared to handle it. Recently, the University Police Department at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) called PuroClean to sanitize two cruisers. In this day and age, sanitations are usually related to COVID-19. But not this time. This time, it was scabies!

Not Your Typical College Shenanigans

According to the police department, the previous night they had detained a person that had scabies. Now they needed their cars cleaned and sanitized. We’ve cleaned up all sorts of messes in the past. COVID, sewage, animal droppings… but scabies was a first. Luckily, we knew that we possessed the tools and knowledge needed to handle the situation. So, we dug into our resources and settled in on the right approach for the job.

In order for the sanitation to be effective, we had to let the cars sit unoccupied for 72 hours. During this stretch, we used Ozone treatment, a HEPA vacuum, and a disinfectant to wipe down all of the surfaces. Of course, for our own safety, we were also suited in full PPE gear for the entirety of the sanitation.

The University Police Department wanted to have the cars back in the fleet as soon as possible but also wanted to ensure no little critters remained. Once we got in and did the cleaning, the cars were back on duty ready to protect and serve.
