It is a safe assumption that no one wants to deal with a disaster any longer than they have to. […]
As far as PuroClean is concerned, the only acceptable leak in the kitchen is a leek. However, we are always ready to do what we do best if the leak in the kitchen happens to be of the water damage variety. When a family of three in Jasonville had a water leak in their home, they called PuroClean of Terre Haute to tackle the mitigation and restoration.
We arrived at the home to find the leak was worse than we anticipated. When dealing with water damage, such as leaks or floods, you must quickly react so professionals can contain the damage. Porous materials, such as wood, soak in the water. Untreated water damage often leads to rot or mold forming.
The leak originated underneath the kitchen sink, where the water ran through the cabinets and under the flooring. In this house, there were eight layers of flooring before the subfloor! We removed each layer one by one until we reached the vinyl with water underneath it. The cabinets also absorbed the water, which swelled and separated the wood.
This job required a lot of demolition work to remove the damaged flooring and cabinets. Our technicians, Caleb and Jerald, led this effort and the rebuilding of the homeowner’s cabinets. They even saved the custom faces of the originals. However, the homeowner’s lazy Susan was so large that we had to remove a window to get it out of the house and back to the shop. Our other technician, Steve, did excellent tile work to get their home functional again.
Our team finished the remediation promptly, however, due to the scope of the damage and some delays with specialty tiles, it took six weeks. The clients were pleased with the result and thanked us for our work.
