In 2015, when Mark W. Davis and Frank Torre acquired the PuroClean franchise network, their vision was clear: to build PuroClean into a movement, making it a World-Class Brand that could serve more communities across North America with compassion, technical training, and Relentless Customer Service. A decade later, that vision has become reality.

Mark W. Davis & Frank Torre: A Ten-Year Journey Worth Celebrating

— Steve White, PuroClean President & COO

This year marks a very special milestone for all of us—the 10th anniversary of Mark W. Davis and Frank Torre purchasing PuroClean. When I look back at where we were in 2015 compared to today, I am simply amazed by how far we’ve come together.

Mark and Frank had one clear objective: build PuroClean into a World-Class Brand. They promised to invest in the growth and development of this company, and they’ve delivered. For years, they took no distributions, choosing to reinvest every dollar back into people, programs, training, and infrastructure, all to add value for you, our Franchise Owners. Look at what that vision has accomplished:

Regional Support: We completely restructured our Regional Director (RD) model, going from our RDs supporting nearly 50 offices each to a more robust team of RDs serving smaller groups of 20–25 Franchise Owners, resulting in more time for visits, financial reviews, and supporting your goals.

Training & Development: From one trainer to a team, we launched the Online Academy, which now offers nearly 200 courses, expanded reconstruction and commercial training, and significantly revamped our Training Academy to make sure your teams are ready for any challenge.

Business Growth: Our average unit sales have grown by four times. Our locations have grown from 222 to 500. Program Work that was virtually non-existent a decade ago now drives nearly 25% of U.S. systemwide sales, and we have conducted training for more than 100 dedicated Business Development Representatives (BDRs) to help you grow.

Brand Identity & Culture: From introducing a modern logo and the Brand Identity Guide to creating The PuroClean Way, our culture of Servant Leadership, Extreme Ownership, and Active Collaboration is now clearly defined and present in everything we do.

The results speak for themselves. None of this happened by accident. It happened because you engaged. You saw the vision, participated in the programs, attended the events, and embraced the change. At the end of the day, the quality of the support doesn’t matter if you don’t use it. But you stepped up and used it, and that has made all the difference.

As I reflect on this decade of growth, I feel honored to serve as your President. Our success is measured by yours, and that will never change. Together, we have built something extraordinary, and the best part is, we are just getting started!

PuroClean & Signal Restoration: Ten Years of Active Collaboration

— George Hernandez, PuroClean SVP of Commercial Operations/Signal Liaison

As we look back to 2015, when Mark W. Davis and Frank Torre acquired PuroClean, few could have anticipated the transformative impact that the relationship with Signal Restoration would eventually have on the trajectory of the PuroClean brand. While the strategic value of such a partnership may not have been fully visible to everyone at the time, it is evident today that Mark and Frank had a visionary understanding of the potential synergies that could be realized through collaboration between the two companies.

The introduction of Signal into the PuroClean network marked a pivotal moment in our evolution into the commercial restoration space. Signal brought a vast level of experience and credibility in the commercial large loss sector, and by integrating Signal’s capabilities and reputation into the PuroClean network, our Franchise Owners gained access to commercial opportunities that had previously been out of reach.

The benefits of this alliance quickly became apparent. As collaboration between the two brands grew, so too did the need for structure and clear communication. Recognizing this, Mark and Frank made the strategic and insightful decision to formalize the relationship by assigning a dedicated team member to manage and foster the partnership between Signal and PuroClean. This role was created to serve as a bridge between both organizations, facilitating open lines of communication, resolving potential conflicts, and ensuring that every PuroClean Franchise Owner received fair and equal access to opportunities that arose through the Signal-PuroClean partnership.

Today, as we reflect on how far we’ve come, it’s clear that the foresight shown in 2015 laid the groundwork for a partnership that continues to elevate the PuroClean brand and create meaningful growth opportunities for all stakeholders. Understanding the history of the PuroClean-Signal relationship is crucial to how we move forward in working as One Team with a shared commitment of Active Collaboration and Relentless Customer Service.

Advancing Veteran Entrepreneurship Through the PuroVet Program

In addition to the transformative relationship between PuroClean and Signal Restoration, Mark and Frank have played a pivotal role in championing another deeply meaningful initiative: the PuroVet Program. Frank’s passion, vision, and unwavering commitment to supporting those who have served in the military have created a unique and powerful platform within our organization that recognizes and uplifts veteran entrepreneurs.

The PuroVet Program was built on three foundational pillars: support for veteran Franchise Owners, outreach to aspiring veteran entrepreneurs, and driving revenue through set-aside contracts and certifications for veterans in the network.

As a veteran myself, I take great pride in helping lead and manage aspects of this program. Under the guidance and leadership of Mark and Frank, this program is more than a tribute to veterans; it’s a growth engine for our brand and a testament to the power of purpose-driven business.

We are immensely proud of the progress made and excited for the road ahead because the future of PuroVet is bright.

Investing In Excellence: How Mark W. Davis and Frank Torre Transformed PuroClean’s Training

— Darren Hudema, WLS, PuroClean Director of Training & Technical Services

Since acquiring PuroClean, Mark W. Davis and Frank Torre have made training and education a strategic priority. Through visionary leadership and significant  investment, they have transformed PuroClean’s training department into a nationally respected leader in restoration education.

Their commitment extended beyond curriculum development. Significant upgrades were made to the Academy’s facilities, including state-of-the-art training systems and a complete remodel of the Flood House, creating one of the most advanced hands-on earning environments in the industry.

A Vision for Growth

A significant turning point came in 2019 when Bud Summers hired me as Director of Training & Technical Services. With decades of experience and a background in IICRC instruction and standards writing, I brought a renewed focus on standards-based, real-world training. Mark and Frank believed in the vision of what the Academy could become. Their investment empowered us to raise the bar and deliver more value to our Franchise Owners.

Expanding Specialized and  Commercial Training

Mark and Frank’s support enabled PuroClean to partner with Howie Wolf and Monica Aquino from HW3 to host and develop classes such as: IICRC Commercial Drying Specialist (CDS), Commercial Large Loss Project Management, new courses in Time & Materials billing and Scope  & Repair. In 2023, PuroClean became the first franchise system to partner with Microbial Warrior International, offering: Certified Bio-Forensic Restoration Specialist®, Certified Forensic Operator®, and Fentanyl Decontamination Training.

These programs position our Franchise Owners for success in high-risk, high-reward environments.

Training Through Partnership

The Academy has strengthened industry relationships by collaborating with Signal Restoration to  rain their teams and clients, partnering with insurance carriers to deliver adjuster-focused programs, and supporting  franchise-led training events for local commercial clients and municipalities.

We’ve also extended our expertise to the  community. Our facility has hosted training for firefighters from the local fire station, ensuring first responders have the knowledge and skills to address water, fire and smoke, and biohazard challenges safely and effectively. Beyond training, the Academy has served as a meeting space for local chambers of commerce and other organizations, reinforcing PuroClean’s reputation as an engaged community partner and industry leader. As Vice President of the Restoration Industry Association (RIA)’s Board of Directors, our Chairman & CEO,  Mark W. Davis, plays an active role in elevating the restoration industry’s standards, shaping the marketplace, and empowering our Franchise Owners to engage in advocacy efforts that strengthens the restoration sector. From driving innovation to providing access to the RIA’s valuable resources and certifications, our network benefits directly from Mark’s involvement with the RIA.

These partnerships build credibility, open business opportunities, and reinforce PuroClean’s reputation for quality and professionalism.

Strengthening the Academy Team

To support the growing demand, Regional Director Daniel Thompson became a WRT/ASD certified instructor in 2022. Joy Thomas joined the team in 2023 as the RightStart Program Manager, guiding new Franchise Owners and managing all class registrations for the academy and in the field. Kevin Jones joined the team in 2025 as an Academy Trainer, bringing his WRT/ASD instructor certification and extensive field training experience.

From trauma cleanup to commercial loss management, the PuroClean Academy has become a driving force for operational excellence. This success stems from Mark and Frank’s unwavering support and belief in the power of training.

Thanks to their investment, we’ve built a culture of professionalism and industry leadership that is second to none.  PuroClean is on the Move as our training evolves. More than a success story; it’s a reflection of visionary leadership, strategic investment, and a long-term commitment to elevating the entire PuroClean network.
