Like Ghostbusters, PuroClean Comes to Rescue of Property Owners Any Time of Day or Night

Fort Lauderdale, FL – They may not remove ghosts and ghouls from your house, but when it comes to property damage from water, mold, fire or other causes, the name PuroClean is quickly replacing “Ghostbusters” as the answer to 1980s hit movie slogan: “If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call?”

When property damage strikes any time of night or day from a water heater or washing machine flooding over, from a grease kitchen fire, vandalism, other common household mishaps or trauma, most people don’t know where to turn to help “save” their property. Increasingly, more property owners are turning to the “Paramedics of Property Damage,” otherwise known as PuroClean, a unique franchise network with 140+ locations available around the clock to arrive at the scene of a loss, take steps to bring the situation under control, prevent it from becoming worse, and providing restoration services to help put the property back to its original condition. The company projects to open approximately 85 new franchises in 2007.

“We are growing as fast as we can to fill the marketplace demand for our specialized service,” said Keith Gerson, President & COO or Purosystems, Inc., the parent company of PuroClean. “We joke about our similarities to Ghostbusters, but there’s some likeness given that we come in 24/7 to restore property from trauma and provide tremendous relief to its owners. Because what we do is so unique and in such high demand by property owners and the insurance agents who represent them, we truly are one of the fastest growing franchise systems in America,” Gerson said, noting that PuroClean nearly doubled in size in 2006, growing from 75 franchises in January to more than 125 at the end of the year and adding 15 more in the first quarter of 2007.

Water damage is by far the most common reason PuroClean is called in for service. On average, two of every 100 insured homes will file a water-damage claim within the year, according to the Insurance Information Institute. While weather incidents can be a cause of water damage, PuroClean attributes the majority of their water-damage calls to accidents within the home, such as dishwashers overflowing, pipe bursts and washing machine malfunctions, etc.

“We serve a $40 billion dollar recession-proof niche industry in one of the largest customer bases in the country,“ Gerson said. “PuroClean’s technology allows people to repair their homes and regain their lives after a disaster. We quickly provide the insurance community and property owners with disaster restoration and mitigation services to minimizes loss and prevent additional damage from floods, mold, soot, smoke and odors to structure and contents.”

Start-up costs for a PuroClean franchise range between $83,000 and $122,000, and many PuroClean franchisees operate the business from home, leasing space for storage equipment.
