“Coronavirus” is an umbrella term for many types of viruses that have been known to cause respiratory diseases in both people and animals. The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19; previously 2019-nCoV) is a new strain that has been recently discovered and publicized worldwide. PuroClean of Portland uses the PuroClean RapidDefense™ system to provide deep mitigation cleaning in areas compromised by a Coronavirus or Influenza outbreak. Using this process, the team at PuroClean of Portland will carefully contain the area and will minimize the risk of pathogens spreading using The Environmental Protection Agency-registered (EPA) products. If there are any lingering odors, our trained technicians will deodorize the area and return your South Portland area property back to its pre-loss condition with empathy and care.
The coronavirus pandemic is still spreading and world leaders in government and healthcare professionals continue to urge citizens to follow strict and particular measures for protection. PuroClean of Portland’s coronavirus cleaning methods help reduce COVID-19 outbreak related contamination. We are now performing deep mitigation cleaning of all touch-point surfaces, and also using disinfectants that are EPA registered. Our COVID-19 cleaning services are available for any commercial, residential, industrial and institutional customers. Get in touch with PuroClean soon to find out more about our COVID-19 cleaning services and more.
“Person-to-Person” is thought to be the most widely known way COVID-19 spreads between people. This occurs mainly with people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet). Droplets produced by the respiratory system when an infected person coughs or sneezes land on the face, mouths or noses of people nearby. Furthermore, these droplets can be inhaled into lungs.
As stated by the CDC, there is a possibility that someone can contract COVID-19 by touching a surface or object with the virus on it and then placing their hand on their own mouth, nose, or even their eyes.
PuroClean will initially conduct a complete inspection of your home or office. PuroClean will then make a determination on the level of containment required and discuss with you the plan of action.
When we arrive at your home or business we’ll do a walkthrough to confirm the area is ready for PuroClean’s cleaning services. We will then determine the flow of work and perform the cleaning as efficiently as possible.
While Puroclean is working on biohazard removal, special focus and adherence to safety, industry, and OSHA standards is very important. Also, our biohazard removal is done by technicians who will wear appropriate protective equipment, also known as PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). The technicians will section off the areas to undergo the cleaning process, using caution so as to protect customers, their families, and PuroClean employees.
PPE is required to be worn by PuroClean professionals. This equipment consists of Nitrile gloves, shoe covers, Biohazard protective coveralls, as well as a full-face respirator. The respirator mask provides protection against splashing that would possibly reach the mucous membranes in the eyes, nose and mouth
Our industry-certified professionals use EPA-registered hospital-grade disinfectant products, including towelettes, composed of pharmaceutical ingredients that meet OSHA’s bloodborne pathogen standard against diseases like COVID-19 and more disease-causing bacteria, viruses, tuberculosis, mold, and mildew.
The typical cleaning materials used by our technicians include:
Depending on the circumstances, Puroclean technicians apply EPA-registered hospital grade disinfectants using three methods.
Synthetic carpets, rugs, curtains, and upholstery – PuroClean professionals will either manually clean or, for machine cleaning, they will use approved disinfectants compatible with the cleaning of textiles and carpets and then extract where applicable.
Natural fabric rugs, carpets, curtains and upholstery: These items are to be cleaned in exact accordance with the manufacturer’s labeled instructions.
Disinfecting linens, clothing and personal fabrics: The instructions on each label should be followed when laundering the contaminated items. Note: Remember to disinfect washing machines after washing contaminated clothing.
Tanned leather items – We can wash these materials by wiping the surfaces with a cloth lightly moistened with disinfectant solution or disinfectant towelettes.
Nu-buck and suede leather material: These items are to be cleaned in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction.
Plywood, wood, block, cinder block, concrete and OSB (Oriented Strand Board): Cleaned by the application of disinfectant solution onto the surface.
HVAC systems: The internal duct surfaces of the HVAC system and components should be cleaned by a licensed HVAC contractor or a duct cleaning specialist who is NADCA certified in accordance with industry standards. Also, external ductwork grates, grills, surfaces and registers will be cleaned with disinfectant solution.
Our technicians shall make the decision whether more cleaning and deodorization will be performed. However, typically once the infected areas are cleaned and start to dry, the odors will disappear.
We understand that a biohazard event can be stressful and sensitive and must be handled with empathy, care and discretion. PuroClean restoration professionals are fully licensed and certified to follow all applicable laws and standards to remediate incidents safely.
RESPECTFUL: Our biohazard cleaning technicians treat every affected area and item respectfully and professionally, as if it were their own.
HIGHEST STANDARDS: PuroClean uses proven products approved to provide protection, reduce the likelihood of spreading pathogens and prevent contamination.
ADVANCED CLEANING SYSTEM: Our RapidDefense system sanitizes and even reduces virus and other pathogen-based contamination in nearby areas. This is an innovative process that we use in order to disinfect public places as effectively as possible.
EPA-registered hospital-grade disinfectant will be utilized to clean all tools, equipment and PPE that was used during the coronavirus cleanup. Prior to leaving the location that had been contaminated with the coronavirus we shall conduct this detailed cleaning.
Per the CDC, Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces are the recommended actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, like coronavirus. Since any surface can be re-contaminated after cleaning, and because the coronavirus is also spread person-to-person, PuroClean’s services are not guaranteed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) for more information regarding coronavirus, its spread, and prevention.
